Banana Prata-Anã

Photo: Cunha, Léa
Originated by a natural mutation that occurred in Santa Catarina in the 1980s, Prata-Anã is the first banana variety cultivated in the production centers of Bom Jesus da Lapa (Bahia), Jaíba (Minas Gerais) and also in the Northern region of Brazil. It has outstanding commercial acceptance in the Northeast and Midwest and in the states of Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina, where it is consumed predominantly fresh. It is the main product of banana seedling biofactories that work on a commercial scale today in Brazil (equivalent to 80% of the volume produced).
This technological solution was developed by Embrapa in partnership with other institution(s).
